Hash Code
February, 28, 2019 (online round), the hub in Faculty of Computer Science
Hash Code is a team-based programming competition organized by Google and in 2019 our faculty is at its third participation as a hub organizer. University students and industry professionals in Europe, the Middle East and Africa compete for 4 hours in teams of two to four to solve online a real-life challenge created by Google engineers. The participants use their own computer, programming language and tools of their choice. Those gathering in the dedicated hubs will enjoy special atmosphere and goodies.

SEEMOUS 2019
March 2019, Devin, Bulgaria
The 13th South Eastern European Mathematical Olympiad for University Students, SEEMOUS 2019, will take place in Bulgaria, organised by MASSEE - Mathematical Society of South Eastern Europe since 2007, each year in collaboration with a university in South Eastern Europe. This year the FII team consists of 6 students and a team leader to be member of the jury and the problem selection committee. The four 2nd year students participating in SEEMOUS 2019 have already prove their talent, abilities and capacities in Mathematics, during the last year 4 international competitions they took part in, whereas the two freshers proved their talent in high school Math competitions and one online international student contest. The FII teams participating in SEEMOUS since 2009 have always won medals for the university they represent.

Internships 2019

In March, the Faculty of Computer Science, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University launches the 14th edition of the annual internships for IT&C students from all over Romania. The organization of these internships will be done together with the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and it will be online live broadcasted to ensure the largest access possible.

The Caravan FII Admis
March - April 2019
High school pupils from the region of Moldova will learn what is a career in IT and how can it be started in Iasi with the Faculty of Computer Science. Groups of FII members and IT companies representatives will travel to various high-schools in Moldavian counties in order to meet with pupils live, present to them and discuss with them why, how, when they can start their IT career in Iasi. During the Alexandru Ioan Cuza Open Days various specific activities will be organised in situ.

FII Practic
March – May 2019
The 7th edition of FII-Practic, jointly organised by ASII – the Association of Computer Science Students from Iasi and the Faculty of Computer Science of Iasi (FII), offers students and high school pupils in the North-East region of Romania the possibility to participate in 7 different trainings in hot areas (FullStack Development, Front-End Development, Back-End Development, Game Development, AR/VR, Web Design, Softskills), each of them to be finalised through the completion of a project, in the FII Practic Conference or the FII Practic Hackathon (24 hours of coding in teams, to solve a community problem).

FIICode
March - May 2019
FIICode is a national Computer Science contest organised by FII and ASII, in 2019 at the 4th edition. Around 350 high school and/or university students will compete individually in the 3 online rounds of the Algorithms section or in teams consisting of 2-4 participants in the online round of the Web Technologies or Mobile sections. Each of the 3 sections, based on a specific set of rules, will announce the finalists on 30 April, such that the final round to take place in Iasi, between 5 and 7 May.

Spring School
April 2019
Faculty of Computer Science and Orange, through Orange Educational Program, organize between April 8th -12th the Spring School for students on topics such as: Cloud Computing (Applications, Security), Mobile communications, 5G systems and IoT.
The program enables the students to put in practice the theoretical concepts learnt at the Faculty, acquiring, at the same time, technical skills, team-working abilities and improving their communication skills in a professional working environment.

NSOM 2019
May 2019, Bulgaria
The International Olympiad in Mathematics for University students will be organized in a Bulgarian University with the cooperation of the Ministry of the Education and Science and the Union of Bulgarian Mathematicians. A team consisting of 3 students and their team leader will represent the faculty, if possible, at the 2019 edition of the contest. The FII team participating in NSOM 2016 won the “Best foreign university Award” due to the 3 medals gained by the 3 FII students.

EUROLAN 2019 Summer School
May 2019
The EUROLAN series of biennially summer schools are traditionally organised by FII and the Romanian Academy Institute for Artificial Intelligence "Mihai Drăgănescu" (RACAI), Bucharest along with the Vassar College, USA. The host of the 13th edition will be Ovidius University of Constanta, the oldest university next to Romanian’s pearl of the Black Sea. Tutorial sessions coupled with hands-on sessions on the hot and cross-disciplinary topic of Biomedicine and Language Technologies will be organised daily in order to provide about 60 participants with a comprehensive overview of the domain. In addition to the excellence of its academic program which includes also satellite workshops, EUROLAN is famous for the camaraderie among its participants. All these made it possible for EUROLAN to be the 2nd best training event in Europe dedicated to Language Technologies.

ECODAM Summer School

Rose Project - Summer Schools

"Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University develops Summer Programs financed from the Secondary Education Project (ROSE) by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank), which aim to carry out courses and other relevant activities for high school students, especially to the socially disadvantaged, in order to encourage them to complete their high school education and to facilitate further education at tertiary level.

ConsILR

The International Conference on Linguistic Resources and Tools for Processing the Romanian Language, jointly organised by the Faculty of Computer Science (UAIC-FII), and the Romanian Academy through the Institute for Artificial Intelligence "Mihai Drăgănescu" (AR-ICIA), Bucharest along with the Institute of Computer Science Iasi (AR-IIT), is targeted to all researches, as well as students at all levels, interested about the domain of Language Technologies with a special accent on the Romanian language. The domain is vital in solving the problem of the still existing online language barriers and it is addressed in Horizon 2020 (ITC 17) and Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programs.

Consortiu Universitaria
The aim of the Consortium is the cooperation of the partner universities to raise the level of scientific and educational activities, in order to recognize their prestige at a national and international level and to classify them in the category of universities of reference in Europe, initiating the improvement of the legal framework of the university teaching process and of the university scientific research, as well as the unitary defining of the university curriculum and the minimum standard for it and the titles and qualifications earned after graduation.
